Services
Therapy conducted at Two Roads Recovery are LPC professionals. Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) is a professional, collaborative relationship in which the LPC uses mental health and human development principles, including various psychotherapeutic techniques, to help individuals, couples, families, and groups achieve mental, emotional, and behavioral well-being. While we are both LPCs, we do offer different specific treatments with slightly differing approaches.
Our Therapists and services they provide:
Amy:
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing): a psychotherapy that helps people heal from trauma and other distressing life experiences by processing disturbing memories. During a session, a patient focuses on a traumatic memory while simultaneously experiencing bilateral stimulation, such as side-to-side eye movements, hand tapping, or tones. This process is thought to help the brain "digest" the memory, reducing its emotional impact and allowing the patient to form new, more adaptive beliefs about the event. Claire:
Person-Centered Therapy: a humanistic approach where the client leads the therapeutic process, with the therapist providing a supportive, non-judgmental environment. The therapist's role is to be genuine, understanding, and unconditionally accepting, which helps the client explore their own feelings and find their own solutions. The core idea is that individuals have an innate drive toward growth and self-improvement, and the therapist's role is to facilitate this process rather than direct it.
Both:
Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP): a mental health professional with advanced training in assessing and treating the effects of trauma. They have a master's degree and have completed specialized coursework on topics like developmental trauma, attachment issues, and the neurobiology of trauma. This certification indicates they possess specific skills to help trauma survivors with symptoms such as anxiety, depression, and PTSD.
Humanistic Therapists: an umbrella term for a range of therapeutic approaches that focus on personal growth, self-actualization, and individual uniqueness. It operates on the core belief that people are inherently good and have an innate capacity to make healthy, meaningful choices and fulfill their potential.
